Pelham boys basketball fails to defeat Somers in holiday tournament final
The PMHS boys basketball team fell short on Wednesday as they faced Somers in the second round of their annual holiday tournament, losing 56-45. This loss follows the team into their next match against Roosevelt on Jan. 5, having them enter the game with a strong season record of 5-3.
Senior captain Charlie Schellhammer and junior Jarid Plummer led the team throughout the tournament. The two led in points during their Tuesday win against John Jay. Schellhammer garnered a total of 27 points over the two games, with Plummer grabbing a combined 17 rebounds and gaining 28 points.
Pelham played a tough game against Somers, having taken the lead early in the second quarter and tying up the scoreboard going into halftime. However, impressive performances from the entire Pelican lineup wasn’t enough to hold on. Somer’s player Fitzsimmons led both teams in points with a 25 point game.
