Rotary names Adina Sasson, S Tapogna January Scholars of the Month

Two Pelham Memorial High School seniors— Adina Sasson and S Tapogna —were recognized as Scholars of the Month in January by the Rotary Club of the Pelhams at a luncheon meeting at Rockwells Restaurant.

Adina Saison, a National Merit semifinalist, won AP Scholar with Distinction Award and writing awards. She is a member of National Honor Society as well as Latin, English, Social Studies, Science and Math honor societies and was awarded the National Latin Exam gold medal. She plans to attend Barnard College in September.

S Tapogna is a National Merit Commended Student and a member of the National Honor Society as well as Tri-M Music, Social Studies, Math honor societies. They received art awards and is a member of Jewish Culture Club, Interact Club, DOOR literary magazine. S has been a volunteer at Bronx Zoo since Grade 9 and a volunteer piano teacher at Songcatchers. They also plays flute and is a member of PMHS Jazz Band and PMHS Concert Band.

In addition to honoring PMHS students for their academic achievements during the school year as Scholars of the Month, the Rotary Club of the Pelhams will award a $15,000 scholarship to a graduating PMHS senior. Applications for the scholarship are available through the PMHS Guidance Department.
