After an inaugural field of ten teams battled it out on the Wolfs Lane Park bocce courts over the summer, on Friday, as darkness fell and the pallino was nearly indiscernible, Dr. Andrew Lyons and Ralph Pilla were crowned the 2018 champions of the Joseph Leavey Bocce Tournament.

The Pelham Council of the Knights of Columbus organized and facilitated the tournament over the summer to raise funds for the Joseph Leavey Foundation. The foundation was established after long time Pelham resident, Lt. Joseph G. Leavey, of Ladder Company 15 (FDNY) gave his life on 9/11 and aims to celebrate his memory through supporting learning through experience, education and leadership within the community.

The Knight of Columbus also ran a one-day bocce tournament during the Wolfs Walk Street Festival. The Knights would like to thank the Village of Pelham Department of Public Works for maintaining the courts. Those interested in joining the 2019 league can contact [email protected] for details.
