Friend of Garcia’s since first grade: Important Hutch community has voice on board of education

To the editor:

I am writing to share my wholehearted endorsement of Annemarie Garcia as a candidate for Pelham Board of Education trustee. I am proud to call Annemarie my dear friend for the past 44 years, since we were in first grade at St. Margaret’s School in the Bronx. I can attest to Annemarie’s exceptional character, commitment to her family and friends, and her deep love and connection to our community.

Annemarie has a genuine and compassionate nature that is reflected in her service as a volunteer in numerous capacities across the Pelham school district and community. At every stage of our children’s journey through Pelham schools, she always motivated me to be a more involved parent volunteer and to continue making contributions that would support all families and students in Pelham. Her experience and dedication to Pelham will ensure that she will continue to work toward a positive and inclusive educational environment for all, while always keeping academic excellence and student wellbeing at the core.

She also has the unique ability to inspire and empower others, combined with her focus on ensuring that all voices are heard. These qualities have made Annemarie a vital and valuable representative of the Hutchinson Elementary School community for many years and will allow her to make important and distinctive contributions as a new board of education member if elected on Tuesday. It’s not a small matter to say that the school board composition should reflect our entire community and for all parts of it to be represented in the critical work the board will undertake in the next few years, such as the new strategic plan.

You can learn more about Annemarie by watching the PTA Council Board of Education Candidates Forum, following her on Facebook at Annemarie Garcia for Pelham Board of Education or emailing her at [email protected].

Annemarie has the right combination of experience, knowledge and mindset to help address the challenges facing our district. I strongly urge you to cast your vote for her on Tuesday at the middle school gym  from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
