Pelham girls lacrosse cruises past Sleepy Hollow, advances to Section 1 quarterfinals
The PMHS girls lacrosse team cruised past Sleepy Hollow Wednesday with an 18-3 away win in their first postseason matchup of the year, earning a spot in the quarterfinals. Pelham was able to showcase several of its younger talented players during its biggest win of the season so far.
The Pelicans came flying out of the gate, ending the first period with a 15-2 lead over the Headless Horsemen. The scoring was led by Mia Orlando, who tallied a fantastic four-goal performance against a tough Sleepy Hollow defense. Sophomore Taylor Green scored her 50th career goal after only two years playing varsity.
The second period was headlined by the Pelican’s impressive defense, allowing only one goal in the 20-minute period. Goalkeepers Sasha Fair and Lane Cooper came up clutch throughout the game, with numerous saves that allowed the the Pelicans to stay in control.
The Pelham players hope to continue their postseason success as they move on to the Section 1 quarterfinals, in which they face a talented Rye squad away on Saturday.
