Pelham CNC needs to fill six open seats with two-year terms

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Pelham Citizens Nominating Committee. The Pelham Examiner publishes press releases in the form received as a service to the community.

The Pelham Citizens Nominating Committee (CNC) has six open Committee seats to fill for a term of two years beginning in September 2023, and we are looking for interested community members to join in our important work. The CNC is a nonpartisan organization, the purpose of which is to recruit, interview and nominate highly qualified candidates for the Board of Education. The CNC also serves as a resource to both the Pelham community and potential BOE candidates, providing due process appropriate to this level of public service and answering any questions candidates may have as they consider their decision to run for the Board. We strive for balance on the CNC, with representation from all neighborhood schools.

Members of the CNC are persons of integrity and sound judgement, free of all obligations and interests which are or may become in conflict with the interests of the District as a whole. Members of the CNC have an interest in education, a belief in the public school system and the ability to work well with others. Additionally, members understand that the selection, interview and nomination of BOE candidates is a nonpartisan process and the role of a BOE trustee is a nonpartisan role. CNC members may not be an elected public official or any principal officer of an organized political party. CNC members may not be spouses, partners and/or relatives of current BOE members. CNC members are encouraged to attend as many BOE meetings as possible to learn about the Board and its activities.

The CNC Annual Open Meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 14th at 7pm via zoom, the agenda for which includes voting in new committee members and electing a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and Secretary to serve for the following year. The CNC Annual Open Meeting is public, open to all voting members of Pelham. Following this meeting, CNC members can expect to meet monthly once their term(s) start in September 2023, with meeting frequency and interviews picking up in March-May 2024.

Community members interested in joining the CNC are encouraged to fill out the application on pelhamcnc.com. The Zoom link and agenda for the Annual Open Meeting can also be found on our website. Questions can be directed to our inbox, [email protected].

Sincerely,

Sarah McKee & Kimberly A. Riegel, PhD, CNC Co-Chairs 2023
