Rotary Scholars of the Month: Amina Pucci, Daniel Teleshevsky, Madeline Walsh and Aoife Jeffries

Four seniors at Pelham Memorial High School—Amina Pucci, Daniel Teleshevsky, Madeline Walsh and Aoife Jeffries— were recognized by Rotary Club of the Pelhams as Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars if the Month at a luncheon on May 17.

Amina Pucci is a four year Science Research student who was a summer intern at Rendl Lab-Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, focusing on genetics surrounding skin and hair cells. She is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Italian, English, Social Studies, Science and Math honor societies. She is an AP Scholar with distinction and placed fourth in her category at the Regeneron Westchester Science & Engineering Fair in 2022. She is a flute player in the PMHS Marching Band and on the varsity track team. She is a reporter on the Pelham Examiner and a math and Italian tutor. She plans to attend Durham University in England in the fall.

Daniel Teleshevsky has won awards in Science, Speech and Debate, and Math. He is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Science, Math, English and Social Studies honor societies. He is a tutor in English, math and science. He is on the Varsity Swim team and member of the year round Condors Swimming competitive club team in Yonkers. He is a YMCA lifeguard. His extracurricular activities include Forensics Speech, Model Rocketry, Math Team, Biology Club, Jewish Culture Club and others. He plans to attend Cornell University in the fall.

Madeline Walsh is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the English, Math, World Language and Social Studies honor societies. She received certificates for coursework at Columbia University in the summer of 2020 (Psychology) and the summer of 2021 (Sociology) and from NYU in the summer of 2022 (Art History). She volunteers with County Harvest and was a student volunteer at Pelham Art Center. She plans to attend Amherst University in the fall.

Aoife Jefferies is a  member of the National Honor Society as well as the Science, English, Math, World Language and Social Studies honor societies. She has received Commended Writer awards and was an AP Scholar with distinction. She has been a medalist in the French National Exam and won science awards. Her sports participation has been in soccer, basketball and bowling. She has been a tutor in English and French. She plans to attend Northwestern University in the fall.

In addition to recognizing Scholars of the Month during the school year, the Pelham Rotary Club will award a $15,000 Rotary Scholarship to a graduating PMHS senior this June.
