Pelham Manor remains committed to our infrastructure. Since the completion of the Village-Wide Drainage Infrastructure Assessment, Village leadership has taken action steps for each target area.

Watershed 1 – the Village Manager has had additional meetings with the Director of Facilities for the Pelham Public Schools (PPS). Together, we will continue to explore the interference that is mentioned in the assessment narrative. The PPS will be providing the Village with a maintenance program for the tidal check valves that are currently installed and also mentioned in the assessment narrative.

Watershed 3 – The Village continues to work with the Pelham Bay Parks administration on the importance of the downstream to upstream concept. Senator Fernandez continues to be supportive of our joint venture.

Watershed 5 – The Village Manager and the City of New Rochelle (New Rochelle) Superintendent of Public Works have been in communication regarding our necessity to work together. New Rochelle is nearing completion of their City-wide assessment, their watershed that borders our Watershed 5 is one of their identified areas of priority. We will work collaboratively on the downstream to upstream concept for our bordering watersheds.

These action steps are critical in the implementation process. In addition to these watershed specific items, we have provided notice to our contractor to utilize our option to extend our current infrastructure agreement that was bid last year. This action provides us the opportunity to utilize locked-in rates for further interim mitigation efforts. We will continue to keep the community up-to-date on our efforts. At the July 10 Board of Trustees meeting, we will provide information on funding efforts.

If residents would like to discuss any of the items mentioned more in-depth, please feel free to reach out to Lindsey Luft, Village Manager, at 914-738-8820.
