Helen Biele – Sept. 24

Helen Biele of New Rochelle, New York, passed away on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was 76 years old.

Born in Manhattan to Albert Staar and Helen Pletz, Helen was one of six children. She was raised in Mount Vernon, where she attended A.B. Davis High School. Upon graduation, she worked as a secretary before meeting her husband of almost 54 years, Thomas Biele. The couple would move to New Rochelle, where they raised their two children Lisa and Kerrianne. After being a homemaker for many years, Helen returned to the workforce in several positions at Walker Zanger Marbleworks for more than 30 years.

Helen loved her grandchildren deeply and was an integral part of their lives. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, traveling, especially going on cruises, as well as playing cards with her friends.

Helen will be remembered as beautiful and motherly to everyone. She was the core of her family and was loved by her many friends. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and being there for people when they needed her most.

Helen is survived by her husband, Thomas; her daughters, Lisa Biele and Kerrianne Gillet (Yann), and her grandchildren, Layla Staar, Dylan Thomas and Emmanuelle Helen. She is also survived by her brothers, George Staar and Richard Staar, and sisters, Frances Staar and Lynn Scarpelli. She is predeceased by her brother, Albert. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and everyone she knew.

A celebration of Helen’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home, located at 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, New York, on Friday, Sept. 28, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the Village Lutheran Church, 172 White Plains Road, Bronxville, New York, on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 10 a.m. A cremation will follow at Ferncliff Crematory.
