Camille Romita – Dec. 25 

Camille (Gervino) Romita, age 85 of Pelham Manor, NY, died peacefully in her sleep on  Christmas Day, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. She was born  to the late Serafino Gervino and Rose (Vastano) Gervino on July 16, 1938. She is  survived by her loving husband, Mauro C. Romita, her children Carla Romita Eccleston (Brian), Michael N. Romita (Melissa) and Paul M. Romita, her grandchildren, Katherine Romita Pompilio, Kristina Romita Pompilio, Isabella Frances Romita and Michael Christopher Romita, and her brother, Armand Gervino. She is predeceased by her sisters,  Rosemarie Brueckner and Kathleen Gervino-Beker. 

Camille was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle from which she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. In her community, she served on numerous boards, including the Pelham Art Center, the Pelham Education Foundation, Arts Westchester, the Castle Gallery at the College of New Rochelle and the Picture House Regional Film Center. Her generosity of spirit is well known in her more than 50 years in the  community during which she was the recipient of many awards and accolades. She has been honored by the Pelham Art Center and the College of New Rochelle for her tireless work on bringing the arts to the community and providing access to education for those who had been historically excluded. 

Professionally, Camille was a real estate broker in Pelham for over 30 years and was loved and respected by both her colleagues and clients. 

Camille was recognized by Pope John Paul II as a Dame of the Order of St. Gregory the Great. 

She loved and was beloved by her friends who affectionately nicknamed her Cami Tyler. She was a voracious reader and avid traveler. She loved playing bridge, tennis, golf and hiking and was a much-loved member of the Pelham Country Club. 

To her husband, Mauro, she was his best friend and the love of his life. Together they raised a family, worked hard to benefit their community and traveled the world. Throughout her travels, Camille visited all 7 continents. To her children and  grandchildren, Camille was their beloved Mom and Mimi and she showered them with love and affection.  

She was very much loved and will be deeply missed by her family and the many people whose lives she touched.
