Kathryn Cohen will bring experience navigating education system to position of school board member

To the editor:

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to you today to share that I fully endorse my friend and fellow parent, Kathryn Cohen, for the Pelham Board of Education. Cohen brings her nonprofit fundraising experience and her volunteer work and leadership within the community to this race, and it speaks volumes about her ability to collaborate effectively and drive positive change.

Having known her personally and also as a volunteer and professional, Cohen serves wholeheartedly. A devoted mother with two amazing kids with very different strengths and interests, Cohen brings a unique perspective to the discussion. Her experience navigating the educational landscape firsthand equips her with great insight into the challenges facing students of all backgrounds and abilities. Furthermore, she understands the importance of ensuring that every student in our district (and out) both feels a sense of belonging and inclusion and receives the support they need to thrive academically and social-emotionally.

Cohen’s leadership role in Pelham SEPTA demonstrates her capacity to foster meaningful partnerships and enact tangible solutions that benefit our entire community. Additionally, her involvement in organizations like SEPTA and GiftedNYS demonstrate her dedication to advocating for all students and families, particularly those with the highest needs receiving special educational services.

Cohen’s candidacy represents a tremendous opportunity for our district to continue on the path of genuine excellence and inclusivity which is pivotal to the next chapter in development and implementation of the strategic plan. She will work diligently to ensure that every segment of our community is heard and included in all initiatives adopted by the board.

I have full confidence that Cohen will serve with integrity, compassion and competence on the Pelham Board of Education, and I urge you to join me in supporting her candidacy—and cast your vote for Kathryn Cohen for Pelham school board trustee!
