Best of Westchester awards were given in July to seven of Pelham’s organizations and companies, including DeCicco & Sons, Anna & Jack’s Treehouse, Danny’s Cycles, the Pelham Chamber of Commerce, Thrive Barre & Fitness, the Pelham Art Center and Pencil Projects Architecture Studio. The 2024 honors were selected by editors and readers of Westchester Magazine, and many Pelham businesses strived to achieve the designation.
“We’re very proud to be recognized for the work that we’ve been doing,” said Alex Martinez, director of education at the art center, which is a nonprofit located at 155 Fifth Ave. that offers art exhibits and education. “We definitely do thank the community for their efforts in addition to what the team has accomplished.”
Danny’s Cycles is situated at 113 Wolfs Lane in Pelham, along with locations in Scarsdale, Rye Brook, Mohegan Lake, Darien and North Stamford. The shop has have won Best of Westchester multiple times before and has also collected a Best of the Decade.
“We really care about our customers. We are passionate about cycling, and you put those two together,” said Steve Khan, the owner of Danny’s Cycles. “And I think it really becomes easy… when the goal is to make sure that everybody enjoys their bicycle.”
This is Anna & Jack’s Treehouse’s fifth consecutive year winning a Best of Westchester. The preschool, with locations in New Rochelle, Pelham and coming soon to Larchmont, also received a Family of the Year award.
“We all work together to provide the best school and the best experience possible for the children, and everybody really wants the best,” said Christina Rubicco, co-founder of Anna & Jack’s. Rubicco said the school’s unique programs and memorable experiences offered the children were the main reasons for its win. “I think the parents see that and they appreciate it, and that’s why they vote for us,” she said.
The Pelham Chamber of Commerce, a nonprofit that helps local businesses and the community thrive by bringing together entrepreneurs, residents and organizations, has been in Pelham for many decades, but “in recent years, we’ve become more active than ever, driven by a renewed commitment to our community,” said Chamber President Cristina Chianese.
Chianese said she believes the group’s strong community spirit and its role as an organization where members genuinely support each other and work together with a real passion for the town contributed to gaining the honor.
“We’ve built a true community within our chamber—one where we help each other, work together and genuinely care about our town,” Chianese said.
