Rotary Paul Harris Fellow awards have been presented to Phil Kiamie, Louise “Twig” Hayes and Bob Dawson by the Rotary Club of the Pelhams.
Phil Kiamie is well known for his community service. He is a major sponsor of several fundraisers including Rotary’s past Tastings events, Danny Fund galas and others. His Phillip James Orchestra is a summer concert staple at the Pelham Gazebo.
Louise “Twig” Hayes has been a member of Pelham Rotary from 2011 and has served as secretary. Her community service has been work with Pelham Children’s Center and other community organizations.
Bob Dawson, a financial consultant, joined Pelham Rotary in 2014 and has served as Vice President for several years, contacting and scheduling speakers for Rotary luncheon meetings held twice a month —on the first and third Wednesdays—at Rockwells restaurant.
Named for the founder of Rotary, the Paul Harris Fellow awards recognize in individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. Through the Rotary Foundation, Rotary’s an international organization which uses donations to promote peace by encouraging conversations to foster understanding within and across cultures, educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases like polio, HIV/AIDS, and malaria and to support local solutions to bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene .
