House of Ink, a tattoo business, moved from Mount Vernon to 5th Avenue in Pelham, next to STATS Preschool and Pelham Smoke Shop on New Year’s Day.
“We were very happy the 10-plus years we were in Mount Vernon, and I am very thankful, but we felt it was time for House of Ink to start a new chapter,” said Vicente Guizar, Founder of House of Ink. “When I first founded House of Ink fifteen years ago, Pelham was one of the first places where I wanted to open, but I was young.”
Benjamin Bernal, Co-Owner of House of Ink said that the Pelham location is better than Mount Vernon because it’s close to other small businesses with great food, the banks are close, and the Pelham train station is a short walk away.
Antonio Vendrell, Alfonso Alvarado, and José Manuel Herrera are the other tattoo artists at House of Ink.
“From day one the Village of Pelham has been very supportive,” said Bernal. “Me and my partner Vicente put a lot of hard work into opening this location and it is satisfying when we see the positive reactions it receives.”
“The community seems to be excited. Even if they are not interested in getting tattooed, they come into the store to check us out and tell us how nice the place looks. They are happy we’re here,” said Guizar. “Starting this new chapter makes me very excited and I feel like what my plan was many years ago finally is becoming a reality.”
