I am writing to express my endorsement for Annemarie Garcia, who is running for re-election as a member of the Pelham Board of Education.

As an educator for 20 years, I see the tremendous value that Annemarie has brought as a Trustee and now as a candidate running for re-election. I first met Annemarie fourteen years ago, initially through our children at Hutchinson School. During her time as President of the Hutchinson PTA, I had the honor of serving as Vice President on the PTA Board with her. I had a front row seat to the numerous ways she demonstrated her commitment to providing the students at Hutchinson with rich community and cultural experiences. She creatively fundraised through engaging and innovative events to benefit the Hutchinson School community, such as Race For Education.

During the time that I have known Annemarie, I have seen her exceptional devotion to our schools, community, and well-being of our children. This has been evident through her roles as PTA Council President, Pelham Education Foundation Board member, Site-Based Counsel representative, Pelham Together Advisory Board member and member of the District Wellness Committee, to name a few.

Annemarie’s approach is extremely thoughtful, compassionate, creative, collaborative with all stakeholders, and always centered with the needs and interests of our community and children at heart. As a School Psychologist, I appreciate her commitment to wellness and understanding of how mental health impacts our students’ learning. She truly supports and champions student voice.

This is a critical time in education, with changing trends and initiatives, as well as increasing financial needs to consider. With her many years of executive coaching background, she is a skilled problem solver who understands the importance of making fiscally responsible decisions. She brings a wealth of experience and insight, making her an outstanding candidate to continue the important work of strengthening our schools. I strongly encourage our community to join me in voting for Annemarie Garcia as Trustee on Tuesday, May 19th.
