To the Editor:
We are writing to show our support for the re-election of Annemarie Garcia and Sid Burke to the Pelham Board of Education.
Annemarie and Sid have helped lead our school system through several important accomplishments during their terms. Most notably to us, the 2025 Capital Improvement Bond was structured to prioritize and secure the passing of essential accessibility improvements at Siwanoy Elementary, alongside other necessary upgrades.
One statistic worth considering is that Pelham Schools rank in the 95th percentile for academic proficiency, while ranking only in the 44th percentile for total spending per pupil. This level of operational efficiency reflects strong work by the administration and Board of Education, and is something the entire community can be proud of.
Continuity is important, especially with major initiatives already underway. For example, improvements for pedestrians must be made at Glover Field, and the current administration is already working to ensure consistently safe passage for all members of our community. Additionally, AI is here, and the board is now overseeing a strategy to meet it and best serve our students as they face the future.
On May 19, we will be voting to help the incumbents continue this important work.
