To the Editor:
We are excited to write this letter in strong support of Sid Burke’s re-election to the Pelham Board of Education. We have known Sid and his wife Kristen for over a decade, and our kids have grown up together in Pelham. The Burkes are the quintessential Pelham neighbors: always ready to pitch in and show up for our town, and always with smiles on their faces.
The next few years will bring some hard questions for Pelham’s schools, and we trust Sid to help develop solutions that consider a diversity of perspectives. He is clear-eyed about the financial pressures facing the district and committed to making sound decisions that protect our children’s experience in the classroom. He recognizes that improving student safety on the walk to Glover requires complicated interactions with multiple municipalities, and he’s rolling up his sleeves to push that forward. He has raised his hand to represent the school board on the new Town Sustainability Board. We know he will be thoughtful in considering the evolving concerns and opportunities related to artificial intelligence and screen time and will remain focused on student success above all else.
To us, Sid’s service on the board reflects the person we know him to be: prepared, approachable, and deeply invested in the Pelham community. We are proud to support his re-election and encourage our fellow Pelham voters to do the same.
