Pelham Art Center is excited to announce a special Pride-themed Figure Drawing Night featuring local Westchester drag queen Kitty Kaboodles, marking the launch of a new series of open figure drawing sessions designed to serve artists of all experience levels.
The new program was developed in response to growing community demand for accessible figure drawing opportunities. Emerging artists, students and experienced practitioners alike have expressed interest in having a regular space to practice observational drawing, connect with fellow creatives, and strengthen their artistic skills.
The inaugural Pride event celebrates creativity, self-expression, and community. Participants will have the opportunity to draw from a live model as Kitty Kaboodles appears in full drag, bringing vibrant costume, character, and performance energy to the gallery in honor of Pride Month.
“Art of Pride figure drawing with Kitty Kaboodles at Pelham Art Center is a perfect fit for our community. We wanted to offer something unique, creative, and celebratory—an experience that brings people together through art and self-expression. This felt like exactly the right idea, and I can’t wait to see the portraits participants create.” — Nancy Mazzei, Interim Executive Director, Pelham Art Center
No prior experience is necessary, and artists of all skill levels are welcome.
Following the Pride event, the Figure Drawing Series will continue throughout the summer with additional sessions scheduled for July 10 and August 7. After the summer series, Pelham Art Center plans to transition to regular biweekly Friday evening figure drawing sessions.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own art supplies, and all drawing and artistic mediums are welcome.
