Pelham Manor police blotter: June 12-16

Tuesday, June 12

7:58 a.m. – A woman called in reporting a raccoon acting lethargic and possibly sick on Wolfs Lane. Officers were dispatched; the animal appeared healthy and left upon the officers’ arrival.

4:19 p.m. – A caller stated that he was concerned about a man jumping in and out of the road near Boston Post Road and Fowler Avenue. Officers were dispatched and saw that the man boarded the bus he was waiting for.

4:35 p.m. – A woman was sideswiped by a large yellow school bus on Boston Post Road.

9:58 p.m. – A man turning left onto the northbound ramp for the Hutchinson River Parkway failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic. He was stopped and produced a New York State non-driver ID card; his driving privileges had been revoked in New York State. He was subsequently arrested.

Wednesday, June 13

10:10 a.m. – The assistant manager of Five Below, located at 846 Pelham Parkway, called to state that a larceny had just occurred. A bald, black male wearing a black sweatshirt and carrying a black tote bag had just left the store with merchandise. He had a visible limp and was walking with a cane. The area was canvassed with negative results, and the caller wished for no further police action.

12:55 p.m. – A call came in reporting a black male wearing a black hoodie on Esplanade acting suspicious. Officers were dispatched; the man was gone on arrival.

8:27 p.m. – A call from Chipotle at 798 Pelham Parkway came in reporting that a 17-year-old had had an asthma attack. She was evaluated on scene; Empress Ambulance Services transported her to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, and she notified her mother.

9:35 p.m. – An anonymous phone call reported that three to four males were drinking on the side of MDT Tire at 912 Spring Road. The caller states they did not have permission to be there. Officers were dispatched; one male took off running and two others were apprehended. All parties cleared the area.

Thursday, June 14

11:11 a.m. – A caller reporting unreasonable noise stated that a heavyset black male wearing a knapsack was walking down Esplanade towards Wolfs Lane, shouting obscenities at the top of his lungs. Officers were dispatched, and the area was canvassed with negative results; the man was gone on arrival.

12:12 p.m. – A 52-year-old was arrested for driving while intoxicated, after earlier incidents in which she hit a Bee-Line bus and a fence. When asked if she’d been drinking, she said yes. When asked what, she said wine. When asked how much, she said, “one glass in Manhattan, then one glass at the college, and then one glass in the attic.” She was asked to recite the alphabet, but only stared at the officer. She refused all field sobriety tests, and could not stand up without holding onto something for support, including a fence, the car and the officer. After being taken to the Pelham Manor Police Station and given a pre-breath test, she was taken to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital by EMS due to her high blood alcohol level.

4:33 p.m. – Officers responded to a 24-year-old male experiencing chest pain in the PetSmart of 830 Pelham Parkway. He was subsequently transported to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital by Empress Ambulance Service.

4:46 p.m. – A man walked into the Pelham Manor Police Station stating that he had missed his court date on June 7. He had outstanding warrants from the Pelham Police Department and was processed and transported to Pelham Town Court for arraignment.

9:10 p.m. – Officers responded to a report of a building fire at Knuckleheads Tavern at 4400 Boston Post Road. Pelham Manor Fire Department also responded and put out the fire and allowed the occupants to return once the building was deemed structurally safe.

Friday, June 15

12:43 a.m. – Officers were called to check on a man sleeping on a bench in front of Dave & Buster’s at 881 Pelham Parkway. He was checked and found to have three active warrants out of the New Rochelle Police Department. He was then arrested and processed by the Pelham Manor Police Department and taken to the New Rochelle Police Station.

3:43 a.m. – Officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle with its trunk open on Bonmar Road. The vehicle was locked and all was secure. An officer closed the trunk.

7:44 a.m. – A caller stated that there was a truck in a non-parking zone on Boston Post Road. An officer was dispatched to check the area, and the truck was gone on arrival.

3:45 p.m. – A call was received reporting a leaf blower in use in the area of Monroe Avenue and Hunter Avenue. An officer was in the area, and reported no leaf blower in the area.

4:15 p.m. – A man called, reporting geese crossing the street and causing a traffic condition near Boston Post Road and Pelham Parkway. Officers checked the area, and the geese appeared to be gone on arrival.

11:33 p.m. – A call was received from a man reporting a loud party in the area of Beech Tree Lane. Officers were dispatched, and found it was a Bronx address holding the party. The resident holding the party was advised to keep the music down for the night.

Saturday, June 16

11:36 a.m. – A caller stated he parked his car in the parking lot of the BJ’s at 825 Pelham Parkway and could not find it, and believed it may have been stolen. Officers were dispatched and found the car in the lot.

3:10 p.m. – A man left his bike locked behind Manor Market at approximately noon and returned to find the lock cut and his bike gone at approximately 2:45 p.m. The bike was a blue, silver and black Trek 820.

5:12 p.m. – A woman called, reporting a dog constantly barking in the area near Bonmar Road. The owner of the dog was spoken to and advised of the noise complaint; she brought the dog inside.

6:18 p.m. – A young man and his father came into the police station to report an armed robbery that occurred that day at approximately 5:30 p.m. He said he was in the woods at the end of Elm Tree Lane with two other individuals, when one person known to him and two unknown to him appeared. He said the suspect he did know pulled out a black “Glock” firearm and instructed him to get down on his knees and took his Louis Vuitton bag, Burberry belt, iPhone, two chains and $90 in cash, and left with the unknown individuals. The NYPD 45th Precinct was notified.

9:28 p.m. – Multiple calls were received about loud noises and bangs near Esplanade. The source of the sounds was a man setting off fireworks; he was issued a warning about using fireworks.
