There’s a new coffee shop in Pelham at 153 Fifth Avenue. Offering drinks, pastries, and more as well as an inviting atmosphere for families, Fifth Coffee’s owners are aiming to provide a warm spot for people of all ages to enjoy a basic coffee or a more intricate treat.
The new shop is the result of a collaboration between two brothers. Frank Krasniqi of VisionCraft Contracting in Pelham designed the space and built the storefront. His brother, Ilir Krasniqi, runs the food and drink side of the business. Prior to launching Fifth Coffee, he worked at a full-service restaurant in New York City where he managed the morning menu, preparing coffees and classic breakfasts.
“We wanted to make a spot where people could come with their family,” Ilir Krasniqi said of their intention. “It’s important to us that people can stay for as much time as they need in a calm, welcoming atmosphere. People really enjoyed it as a new addition to Pelham on the opening weekend, and it seems like people like how it’s not just coffee, but other treats as well.”
At a time when many coffee shops in Westchester County offer gourmet roasted coffee at premium prices, the Krasniqi brothers are taking a different approach, offering cups of regular joe at a lower price point. The owners are also willing to adjust the menu based on what the customers want and have already adapted by adding chai latte to the menu, while remaining open to more changes down the road.
For those who may not be into coffee or just want something else, Fifth Coffee has gelato, fresh juice, simple pastries, and sweet treats. But for the coffee lovers, the store offers a wide range of both hot and cold coffees, from dark roasts and cold brews to cappuccinos, lattes, and matcha products.
“We had such a nice experience at Fifth Coffee,” Jonathan Bernstein said about his family’s time there. “It’s a nice shop and the iced coffee was great!”
“The name Fifth Coffee came pretty natural,” Frank Krasniqi said in an interview. “We wanted to keep it simple and have a name that is easy to remember.”
If things go well in Pelham, the Krasniqi brothers are thinking of expanding to other towns in Westchester, but as of now, their focus is on Pelham.
