The Pelham Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the purchase of real estate, possibly a house at 314 Pelhamdale Avenue that would expand the outdoor footprint of Colonial School, which has the smallest amount of outside space of the district’s four elementary schools.

In a meeting notice, the district said, the board “is expected to discuss and may take action on the purchase of real property.”

According to minutes of a Colonial PTA meeting on April 24, Superintendent Cheryl Champ reported that “the board is actively in conversations with all neighbors regarding adjacent property. The board started this research last year and has a process in place.”

Meanwhile, 314 Pelhamdale Ave., which sits directly behind the south wing of the school and next to its single square blacktop playground, is for sale by its owner for $1.18 million, according to Zillow.com.
