Local art students fundraise for Black Lives Matter

By Katja Fair, Assistant Editing Manager

Pelham AP Art students held a fundraiser in Wolfs Lane Park in order to raise money to assist the Black Lives Matter movement. Art pieces such as embroidery, prints, paintings and photography by the local artists were up for sale- raising $940 in the hour alone.

The proceeds of $695 will go to The Bail Project, which pays the bail of those who have been arrested and detained in order to combat systemic criminalisation of poverty and race. The remaining $275 was donated to Juxtaposition Arts—an art center staffed by teens of color working to create the future they envision.
