Jean DelGrosso – Oct. 11

Jean DelGrosso “Nee Mosia,” a resident of Pelham, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 11, 2020. She was 92 years old. Jean was born on January 14, 1928 in the Bronx to the late Anthony Mosia and Mary Salzarulo. She married the love of her life, Rocco DelGrosso, on April 14, 1951, at St. Anthony’s Church in the Bronx. They moved to Pelham in 1957 where they raised their four children, Rocco, Jeanmarie, Barbara & Carol.

Jean enjoyed traveling and spending winters at her home in Palm Beach, FL. She cherished her annual “Sisters are Special” trips, hosting large holiday dinners and barbecues. But what she enjoyed most was spending time with her family. Jean was a voracious reader and a rabid Mets fan, attending games every season and watching nightly at home.  She was an avid bowler, an original member of the Pelham Civics, a devoted parishioner of St. Catharine’s Church, and active with the Pelham Senior Citizens.

Jean is survived by her children Rocco and Deborah DelGrosso of New Rochelle; Jeanmarie and Paul Sousa of Mount Vernon; Barbara and James Grond of Greenwich, CT; and Carol and Daniel Mastrangelo of Westminster, MD.  She is the beloved grandmother of Jessica Tuttle; Elizabeth Peters; Paul Sousa, Jr.; Kimberly Llamas; Scott Sousa; Christopher DelGrosso; Amanda Grond; and Michael and Calli Mastrangelo, and a great grandmother of eight. She is also survived by siblings Marie Mancuso, and Peter and Michael Mosia. Jean is predeceased by her husband Rocco, her sisters Nancy Marino, Josephine Bartilucci and Louise Gervasi, and her brother Anthony Mosia, Jr.

A celebration of Jean’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham NY on Wednesday October 14th from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Catharine’s Church located at 25 Second Ave., Pelham NY. on Thursday October 15th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
