Village of Pelham police blotter: Nov. 23-Dec. 6

Nov. 23
5:05 p.m. — An officer was dispatched to a residence on Young Ave. on a report of a larceny in the past. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the complaining party who stated her son’s bicycle was stolen from their front lawn, possibly during the month of October. Additionally, the party stated that her bicycle was stolen from inside their garage during the first week of November. She said that she does have security cameras and will check for footage of the larceny. Report made for informational purposes only at this time.

Nov. 28
4:03 a.m. — Pelham Manor Police Department was advised of a file 1 that had just occurred at Amoco gas station on Boston Post Road. The vehicle was last seen fleeing east on Boston Post Road. An officer canvassing the area on Pelhamdale Ave. observed a vehicle matching the given description. The vehicle passed through a steady red light at the Witherbee-Pelhamdale Ave. intersection. As the officer turned his vehicle around he observed the suspect vehicle pass through a second steady red light, traveling west on Colonial Ave.. The officer was able to catch up to the aforementioned vehicle and activated his overhead lights and sirens. The vehicle failed to comply with the traffic stop, continuing into Mount Vernon. The officer terminated the chase after the suspect vehicle attained high speeds and continued passing through red lights. Mount Vernon Police Department notified, nothing further.

Nov. 29
7:12 p.m. — An officer responded to a residence on Lincoln Ave. on report of a verbal dispute. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the reporting party who stated his downstairs neighbor was just at his door yelling at him in response to his children running around, making it difficult for him to rest. The officer then spoke to the complaining party who stated he “tried to speak to him like a man” but the conversation escalated. Both parties were advised to speak with their landlord to address the issue and not to make contact with one another. Both parties advised that no physical dispute occurred. Nothing further.

Dec. 1
5:40 p.m. — An officer was dispatched to a location on Boulevard and Wolf’s Lane on report of a pedestrian struck in the roadway. Upon arrival the officer observed a vehicle parked in the middle of the cross walk. The officer spoke to the sister of the victim who stated that she and her sister were crossing the street in the crosswalk when the vehicle made a left turn onto Boulevard, hitting one of the girls. The afflicted party stated that she was having head pain but no lacerations were observed. Pelham Fire Department members and a medic arrived on site to provide further evaluation and treatment. The injured party was taken to the hospital in an ambulance with her mother. The vehicle oportator was given a summons and sent on their way. No further police action required at this time.

Dec. 3
3:40 a.m. — An office was patrolling the area of Eighth Ave. when he heard two gunshots. The officer observed two vehicles driving west on Lincoln Ave. at high speed. The officer followed the vehicles, turning onto Lincoln. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, activating his lights and sirens. One of the vehicles, a sedan, pulled over, while the other, with no lights, continued on Lincoln at a high rate of speed. The vehicle still on the move made a right turn onto First Ave., before merging onto the Hutchinson River Parkway. A black object was thrown out of the passenger-side window before the vehicle took exit 16 into New Rochelle. The vehicle crashed into a utility pole on Flandreau Ave.. The officer exited the police vehicle drawing a department-issued firearm commanding the passengers to keep their hands up. The officer observed there to be three males still in the vehicle and one ejected. Another officer arrived on scene along with back up from the Pelham Manor Police Department and the New Rochelle Police Department. Three of the suspects were placed under custody. The New Rochelle Fire Department was contacted to extricate the last suspect who was stuck in the passenger seat. Two of the suspects were taken to the hospital for further evaluation. The others were transported back to headquarters for arrest processing. The crashed vehicle was towed. Two .40 caliber shell casings were located on Lincoln Ave. and photographed. The Westchester Department of Public Safety was contacted and requested a K-9 sweep on the Hutchinson River Parkway to search for a firearm. Nothing further at this time.

Dec. 4
6:59 p.m. — An officer responded to a location on Fifth Ave. for a report of a driver ramming into multiple vehicles. While driving south on Fifth Ave. the officer was flagged down and informed that the suspect vehicle was heading north on Fifth Ave.. The officer along with another conducted a felony traffic stop at the intersection of Lincoln and Third Ave.. The officer approached the vehicle operator and placed him in handcuffs. A search of the suspect party and vehicle was conducted, recovering a fully loaded GLOCK 22 with a round loaded in the chamber and fifteen rounds loaded in the magazine. The officer also uncovered two magazines holding a total of thirty bullets. Both the firearm and magazines were safeguarded by the officer and placed in the police vehicle. The officer noted a strong odor of alcohol from the suspect party’s body and breath. The man had slurred speech and was stumbling, eventually falling to the ground. Two officers were needed to help him stand on his feet. No sobriety tests could be performed due to his inability to function. While attempting to speak to the suspect two vehicles pulled up, stating that the suspect had caused damage to their vehicles at the intersection of Lincoln and Fifth Ave.. The vehicle was impounded. While entering headquarters the suspect party fell and was unable to get back up. The Pelham Fire Department was called to provide assistance. The party was then transported to the hospital.
