Chris Scelza is serving as acting administrator for the Village of Pelham following Omar Small’s resignation, which was announced in January and became effective April 1. Scelza had been the village’s deputy administrator.

Mayor Chance Mullen indicated the board may be considering internal shifts to fill the job permanently. “I believe we have excellent staff members in Village Hall, and we view turnover as an opportunity to consider potential functional changes that better utilize everyone’s talents and strengthen administrative services,” Mullen said in an email. “I think that Mr. Scelza has been exceptional during this transition, and I’ve been grateful for his leadership and partnership.”

Small announced his resignation during a village board of trustees meeting on Jan. 26. He thanked all current and prior trustees he had the opportunity to work with. “As you know, I want the best for the village,” he said at the time. “This move is basically a personal move.”

Small is now pursuing a passion of his own following his departure. His website Kicking it With Brother Smalls uses his childhood nickname and, in the About Me section, states, “This website will feature vibrant talks and interviews with artists, entertainers, businesses and civic leaders, teachers and everyday people with something to contribute to our world.” The website has a blog section that covers music, entertainment and current events.
