Foto Feature: Pelham celebrates Juneteenth with unveiling of new sculpture, plus music and poetry

The Pelham community celebrated the first annual Juneteenth holiday on Saturday.

During the opening ceremony, Village of Pelham Mayor Chance Mullen thanked the Pelham Arts Council, the Pelham Art Center, the Picture House Regional Film Center, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cheryl Champ and everyone who contributed to the event.

The newest outdoor art installation in Pelham, created by Musa Hixon, was unveiled. Hixon is an internationally recognized artist from Brooklyn.

The celebration included music, live poetry, an exhibition of artwork and live demonstrations of painting by Pelham Memorial High School students.
