Nicholas Schwartz was sworn in as a sergeant and Kieran Colleran as a detective with the Pelham Manor Police Department by Mayor Jennifer Monachino Lapey on Monday during the village board meeting.

Schwartz was promoted from police officer and Colleran assigned to the detectives.

Lapey said she remembered swearing Schwartz into the department and shared a story of a successful arrest he made shortly after joining the force.

The board set Feb. 28, it’s next meeting, for a public hearing on a local law “Additional Veterans’ Real Property Tax Exemption.”

The board also appointed Sydney Thayer, a resident of the Village of Pelham, to be the chairman of election inspectors for the village elections on March 15.
