PMHS boys lacrosse wins Section 1 title 14-6 over Pearl River after slow early start

PMHS boys lacrosse won the Section 1, Class C championship Thursday night in a 14-6 victory over Pearl River. This marks Pelham’s second section title in five years.

Pearl River scored the first two goals, but the Pelicans went on a 11-goal run through the fourth quarter, preventing any chance of a Pearl River comeback.

Junior Chris Franchini led the way with four goals and two assists, while junior Callum Reen had five points with two goals and three assists. Senior goaltender Will White had eight saves.

Senior captain Daniel Johnston capped his dominant section playoff run with two goals and one assist, putting his point tally at 21 across four postseason games.

“We started out a little bit slow, but we just credit our defense for putting the ball back on offense,” Johnston said. “We just had trust in each other to not point fingers, not get down and to rally back.”

PMHS was the sixth-seeded team going into playoffs and will move on to the subregional game on June 1 against the Section 9 champions at Hendrick Hudson High School.
