Double dutch world champions to offer jump rope program Saturday at Colonial School

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by Amy Sparano of the Siwanoy PTA. The Pelham Examiner publishes press releases in the form received as a service to the community.

It’s going to be Coach Veal and 12 world champion jumpers, giving the history of Double Dutch, demonstration and participation. All ages & free.

Double Dutch combines benefits for both physical and mental health. It’s a sport that involves coordination, rhythm, agility, and teamwork. It requires leadership, verbal and non-verbal communication. The energy, rhythm and counting can be soothing for students with adhd; helping with sensory processing and motor planning. The steady rhythm of Double Dutch can transfer to fluency in math, reading and even independent working spaces. It’s also tech-free entertainment that brings joy! That’s before even delving into the cultural competency component.
