As the calendar turns to August, only a month remains of summer vacation. Here are four summer activities for residents of Pelham to do before the end of the month.
1. Wilson Woods Pool
Located in Mount Vernon, near Hutchinson Elementary School, the Wilson Woods Pool features a wave pool, splash pad, and water slide for fun water-themed activities to enjoy. The pool is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, with entry fees of $15 for Westchester residents with guests or family members, $5 for residents from 3 to 11 years old and free admission for children under 2 years old.
2. Pelham Summer Concerts
Hosted every Monday evening from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Gazebo on Fifth Avenue, the concerts provide a great musical experience for Pelham residents at the end of the day. The next musicians to perform at the Gazebo will be The Truth 2.0 on August 4, with the last concert being held by Jackie Dimaggio on September 8. More information about the concerts can be found here.
3. Jones Beach State Park
Despite the hour-long drive to Long Island, Jones Beach provides a fun, classic beach experience, in addition to other activities such as stargazing, fishing, and mini golf for anyone visiting to enjoy. The beach is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and holidays, with the cost of admission to the beach being $5 per car. Permits for fishing and stargazing cost $35 each, and mini golf costs $7 for participants over the age of 13, $3 for children from ages 5-12, and free for children 5 years old and under. Additional information on hours of operation and fees can be found at the New York State Parks website.
4. Playland Park
With their location being about 20 minutes away from Pelham, Playland offers a great local option for an amusement park, including rides such as Ferris wheels, bumper cars, carousels, and a variety of rollercoasters. In addition to the amusement park, a beach and pool area are available for people to use while at the park, with firework shows being held every Friday night until August 29. The hours for the amusement park are from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays-Fridays up to Labor Day, and 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the beach and pool, with parking costing $10. Admission prices for the rides, beach, and pool are available at playlandpark.org.
