More than 200 people from Pelham Westchester, NYC, and all over the country are participating in Saturday’s run / walk to celebrate the USA’s 250th anniversary and the Battle of Pelham. Participants will receive a commemorative race shirt and finisher medal.
Runners and walkers can still sign up at RunPelham250.com, which also has information on the race and the modified course.
The race is hosted by American Legion Pelham Post 50 and the Pelham Civic Association, with the Pelham Half Marathon & 10K organizers. Proceeds from the event benefit community programs in Pelham, including the annual Memorial Day Parade fund.
The July 4 event will begin at 7:30 AM for walkers, 8 AM for runners. Starting and finishing on Harmon Avenue, behind the Daronco Town House, the course will run through the Heights east of Highbrook Avenue. Water and Gatorade will be available on the course as well as at the finish line. Pelicones will also be at the finish line offering ice cream for sale.
In addition to the finishers medal, registrants will receive a race shirt. The overall male and female winners will each receive $250. All winners of the male and female age groups (under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+) will receive a commemorative pint glass.
Registrants can pick up bibs and race shirts beginning Thursday afternoon at Fleet Feet, 52 Pondfield in Bronxville from 3 to 7 PM; at the Daronco Town House, 20 Fifth Avenue in Pelham from 9 AM to noon Friday; and Saturday morning at the Daronco Town House from 6:30 AM.
