New assistant superintendent for pupil personnel services to be named at school board meeting Tuesday

A candidate for assistant superintendent for pupil personnel services will likely be recommended by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cheryl Champ at Tuesday’s school board meeting, according to a Pelham School District announcement.

Rosemary Matthews retired from the post last year. Susan Lockhart was named in June as the interim assistant superintendent, a post that oversees the district’s special education programs.

The board will meet at 8:15 p.m. in the Pelham Middle School library.

“The Board of Education will meet at 8:15 pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in the Pelham Middle School Library, 28 Franklin Place, Pelham, NY 10803. Prior to the public meeting, the Board is expected to meet in executive session at 7 pm in the Superintendent’s Conference Room in Central Office, 18 Franklin Place, Pelham, NY 10803.

At the public meeting, Dr. Cheryl Champ, superintendent of schools, is expected to recommend a candidate for appointment as assistant superintendent for pupil personnel services. Dr. Champ will also present her mid-year report on benchmarking on progress towards Board of Education and Strategic Plan goals.

In addition to Dr. Champ’s Superintendent’s report, the agenda may include updates from each School Board committee, as well as reports on 21st Century Learning and Professional Development, Networks of Support and Social-Emotional Development, and Finances and Facilities.

The Board may also review and/or approve the following policies: Policy 6121 – Sexual Harassment in the Workplace; Policy 5420 – Student Health Services; Policy 5720 – Transportation of Students. These policies will be available on BoardDocs as part of the meeting agenda.
