Jamie Burke, a PMHS 10th grader, recently attended RYLA, a Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program designed to teach high school students leadership skills.

She was sponsored by the Rotary Club of the Pelhams and gave a brief report about the retreat at the club’s May 1 meeting. She said that it was a very rewarding experience and she is still in touch with other students who were there and how they plan a reunion. One of the topics discussed at the retreat was “co-occurring disorders” or when one or more mental or other issues are faced by a student. She talked of rock climbing and other team building exercises at the retreat.
