Pelham Citizens Nominating Committee approves qualifications of all four school board candidates
Editor’s note: This letter was provided by the Citizens Nominating Committee.
The Citizens Nominating Committee (CNC) has completed its interviews for the upcoming Board of Education (BOE) elections, and has deliberated to determine whether the interested candidates are qualified to run for, and serve on, the Pelham Board of Education.
The qualifications that the CNC considers in a candidate for BOE include:
- Knowledge of current community concerns as they impact our school district
- Interest in education and a belief in the immense potential of public education in general, and our school district in particular
- Ability and willingness to execute faithfully the duties of a member of the Board of Education – time, effort, and responsibilities
The findings of the CNC do not constitute an endorsement of any candidate or candidates; rather it is the judgment of the CNC members that the candidates are appropriate choices to run for, and serve on, our BOE.
We believe that all four candidates who expressed interest meet these criteria. These candidates are:
John Brice
Vincent Mazzaro
Steven Shekane
Leah Tahbaz
Sincerely,
CNC 2018-2019
