Coffee with a Cop: Talk about issues, chat a bit with Pelham Police on Wednesday

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Pelham Police Department.

On October 2, 2019 officers from the Pelham Police Department and community members will come together in an informal setting to talk about issues they feel are important, build relationships, learn about each other and drink coffee.

All community members are invited to attend. The event is from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2 at the Town Gazebo near the corner of Harmon Avenue and Fifth Avenue.  J Café located at 129 Wolfs Lane has generously donated coffee for all of those who attend.

Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in our neighborhoods.

The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies, or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative and began as part of National Community Policing Week in 2016. It now continues each year on the first Wednesday in October furthering efforts nationwide to bridge the gap between the community and local police.  Similar events are being held across the county, as local police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.
