October 15, 2019 – Pelham, New York. This Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 4:oo pm, Concerts at Christ Church, a community outreach of Christ Church in Pelham, will present the Mark & Beverly Davis Duo of classical guitar and mandolin performing a program they’ve entitled “From England to Spain and back again” featuring music by William Byrd, Jean-Baptiste Lully, Domenico Scarlatti, Antonio Vivaldi, and folksongs from the British Isles. The Mark & Beverly Davis Duo, with Beverly on classical guitar and Mark on guitar and mandolin, performs music informed by early folk traditions, classical music, world music and contemporary idioms, showcasing the beauty of sound and the expressive capabilities of plucked strings. Mark Davis is a Grammy-nominated recording artist and Music Director of the Providence Mandolin Orchestra. Mark and Beverly also perform with the New American Mandolin Ensemble and produce the popular North Meadow House Concerts series in the Northeast Connecticut.

Culminating nearly two years of careful planning, designing, and building, the new Jack Hennigan Memorial organ arrived in Pelham on October 8 and the 8-week process of installing it has begun. The gift of Martin Nash, this new pipe organ is the product of the Montreal firm Juget-Sinclair Facteurs d’orgues and is the 51st bespoke instrument this company has built. While the team from Juget-Sinclair works to install the organ,  Concerts at Christ Church, the community outreach of Christ Church which brings affordable, quality performances of great music to the Pelham community is celebrating the arrival of this fine new instrument with an entire season’s worth of great performances in historic Christ Church in Pelham.

The Juget-Sinclair, Opus 51 pipe organ will make its public debut on the afternoon of December 8, 2019 at 5:00 pm in an early Christmas celebration of the classic and well-loved Anglican Service of Lessons and Carols. This event will be free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be collected.
