Reps. Bowman and Jones to join Hearts and Homes town hall Sunday on welcoming refugees

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by Hearts & Homes for Refugees.

I hope each and every one of you will join this Sunday at 6 PM when Hearts & Homes hosts a Town Hall meeting, Building Welcoming Communities. Our guests will include newly elected congressmen Jamal Bowman and Mondaire Jones. George Latimer is scheduled to introduce this event and Chris George from IRIS will be on hand to talk about the importance of community sponsorship. Representatives from Catholic Charities, HIAS and IRC will also be in attendance.

Hearts & Homes for Refugees is bringing together past, present and hopefully future welcomers in Westchester County to talk about what has been accomplished and how we will continue to build Welcoming Communities.

April 25 Town Hall: Building Welcoming Communities

Hearts & Homes’ mission serves not only refugee populations, but also local communities by creating opportunities for welcomers to get involved and act on their humanitarian impulses. We will have an update on the refugee resettlement program as we understand it. We will share the important work we are doing to seed more community sponsors, because we believe that the Biden Administration will fulfill its commitment, and we want to be ready.

Finally, we are especially excited to introduce this strong network to our newly elected representatives in Congress. We want to demonstrate the commitment to refugees that exists in Westchester, and ask our Representatives for their support.

Look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
