Flash flood watch in effect through Friday morning
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for southern Westchester through 8 a.m. Friday:
A period of heavy showers and embedded thunderstorms is expected with the approach of a cold front tonight into Friday morning. A widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain are likely with locally higher amounts possible. The rainfall combined with wet antecedent conditions in a short period of time will lead to increased potential for flash flooding. Scattered flash flooding of urban and poor drainage areas is possible.
In addition, there will be marginal risk for strong to severe thunderstorms through tonight with primary threat of damaging winds. An isolated tornado will be possible.
