Pelham Manor police, Project Community to host meet and greet for kids Nov. 11

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Village of Pelham Manor.

The Village of Pelham Manor Police Department, together with Project Community “You & Me,” will host a special meet-and-greet event at Police Headquarters on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11. Children, parents at caregivers are welcome at 4 Penfield Place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“You and Me” is a Project CHILDD (Community Help in Learning about Developmental Disabilities) program that works in partnership with local law enforcement. Through a departmental registry for families of special needs citizens, officers in the field will have access to important contact information, unique behavioral characteristics and a photograph for each participant. The goal is to help minimize a possibly dangerous encounter that could be caused by a lack of familiarity with special needs citizens.

We encourage children of all ages to attend, meet with members of the PMPD, and learn more about the innovative “You and Me” program aimed at assisting special needs residents of the community.
