PMHS boys basketball defeats Byram Hills

The PMHS boys basketball team pushed their win streak to seven games on Friday night after a 58-52 win over Byram Hills. This moved the team to 13-2 overall and 7-0 in league play.

The game started out looking like a defensive battle after Byram Hills began out-rebounding Pelham consistently. This brought the home Bobcat fans well into the game until Pelham was able to weather the early storm. Still, the favored Pelicans only led by one at halftime.

The players showed they could step up to win when challenged, as seen during previous games. The team went on an early run in the fourth quarter and held on for the six point victory. Juniors Charlie Schellhammer and Luke Ravitz led the way for Pelham, both scoring 18 points. Ravitz lit up the court, hitting huge shots when the Pelicans needed them most. Schellhammer was able to add five rebounds and five late assists to his tally to put Pelham over the line.

This win brings the boys two games up on any league opponent with just five games to go. The team is looking to win their first league title since 2012. The 13-2 record also keeps the team sitting at second in the Section 1 Class A standings.

The next game will be Friday, January 28, in Ardsley where the boys will look to complete a three game sweep of the Panthers.
