Pelham fell to Poughkeepsie in the sectional quarterfinals.

The PMHS boys basketball team fell to seven-seed Poughkeepsie 56-43 on Saturday in the Section 1, Class A quarterfinals.

Coming into the match, both teams had been streaky of late, but it was Poughkeepsie who led wire-to-wire. Pelham was the two-seed and finishes the year 17-5.

Despite the loss, the future of Pelham basketball is looking good. This season, the team won its first league title in 10 years and recorded monumental wins over Eastchester and Byram Hills, plus a three-game sweep of rival Rye.

Senior captains Garrett Jenkins, Matteo Johnson and Charlie Gutch will all graduate, leaving the foundation of next year’s team in the hands of juniors Charlie Schellhammer and Luke Ravitz, along with sophomore Jarid Plummer.
