PELHAM, NY.  Pelham Art Center presents the second annual Art Happening–an afternoon community art festival on Saturday, May 21, 2022. The Art Happening brings together community members of all ages to create, witness, celebrate and support the arts! The Art Happening ’22 takes place in the Art Center courtyard and gallery 12:00-3:00pm.

Start the afternoon with outdoor family yoga with Samantha Richardson (11:30-12:30pm). A gentle yoga sequence will awaken the creativity and get the body moving before the rest of the fun begins.

Several art-making stations will be in the courtyard. Create spring art projects with teaching artists Donna Ross and Zafiro Acevedo! Collaborative art-making will be a highlight of The Art Happening, as attendees fill the courtyard with chalk art and contribute painted expressions on the community canvas.

Special guests Donetta Riley and Accent Dance NYC will bring joy to this art-filled afternoon. Donetta Riley will be making balloons in all kinds of playful colors and shapes. At 1:00pm, Accent Dance NYC takes center stage for a performance followed by an interactive dance number with the audience. Come dance with us!

The Art Happening includes a one-day sale of affordable works and prints by artists in the Artist Club Exhibition. In the gallery, browse the Artist Club Bazaar to collect unique artwork and support local emerging artists. May 21st will be the final day to view the Artist Club Exhibition at Pelham Art Center. Participating artist vendors include: Heedan Chung, Janice DeMarino, Hilda Demsky, Erika Hibbert, Eric Kollen, Susan Nathenson, Joyce Pommer, Rebecca Schwarz, Scott Seaboldt, and Fran Sisco.

Inside the Art Center from 1:00-3:00pm, Hilary Parry Haggerty will be giving free personalized tarot readings. Get a family reading, ask about an important decision, or see what comes up in the cards!

Pelham Art Center is committed to providing free and affordable art programs for our community. We kindly suggest a $5 donation per person to enjoy all the Art Happening fun!
