National Pollinator Week was capped off in a great buzz in lower Westchester with more than 20 of our neighbors opening their own pollinator-friendly gardens to the public during The Sound Shore Pollinator Garden Tour on Sunday, June 26.

Pelham and New Rochelle Healthy Yards, along with the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Pollinator Pathway collaborated to provide community members with a free, day-long opportunity to visit beautiful spaces created by neighbors who don’t use pesticides or herbicides and who provide native and pollinator-friendly plantings that support life in their gardens.

Thanks so much to all the gracious hosts!

If you missed, it, here are a few pictures of the participating Pelham gardens. Hope to see you next time!

We all have a role to play in caring for land using healthy yard practices that benefit the environment, pollinators, and our well-being. Planting native and pollinator-friendly plants and meeting and learning from neighbors is one powerful action to take to improve the environment and support essential ecosystem services.

The Pelham Healthy Yards campaign was launched in the fall of 2021 by the Village of Pelham Sustainability Advisory Board and Climate Smart Communities Task Force and is supported by the Village of Pelham, Town of Pelham, and the Environmental Coalition of the Pelhams (EcoPel).

Pelham Healthy Yards hosts monthly meetups in the community.
