Eleanor O’Sullivan and Ulysses Conrad win Maggie Klein Excellence in Local Journalism Scholarships

The 2022 Maggie Klein Excellence in Journalism Scholarships were awarded to new Pelham Memorial High School graduates Eleanor O’Sullivan and Ulysses Conrad.

Each student received a $2,000 scholarship, which is administered by Rotary Club of the Pelhams with funds from an anonymous donor.

Eleanor O’Sullivan started writing in 5th grade for the Colonial School Times website and was in the PMHS journalism class that produces The Pel Mel student newspaper. She did a makeover of the Pel Mel website and produced an 8-page PMHS 100th anniversary special issue of The Pel Mel.

She plans to attend the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

Ulysses Conrad has been a writer for The Pel Mel and writer and an editor for The Pelham Examiner community news website. Among his articles on The Pelham Examiner were reports on Village of Pelham Manor Board meetings.  He plans to attend Wesleyan University.
