The Third Annual “Buddy Walk” in Pelham Manor to support the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) was organized in Pelham Manor by the Mauro family (Annette, Ralph, Thomas, Amy and Jennifer) on Sunday, September 18th, 2022.  The Mauro family has been supporters of NDSS for many years since their daughter, Jennifer, was born with Down Syndrome in 1995.  Jennifer has been raised, educated, and graduated from Pelham Memorial HS and is known by many around town.  The Manor Club (TMC) at 1023 Esplanade in Pelham Manor graciously offered their facility to host this community walk.  Family, friends, neighbors and TMC members walked and/or donated to “Team Jen” and raised over $11,500 for this worthy cause with donations still being received.  Local businesses such as DeCiccio & Sons Supermarkets, Manor Market, North Shore Farms, ShopRite of Pelham Manor, and Trader Joe’s provided drinks and snack items for walkers.  Monies raised help NDSS continue their mission of helping individuals with Down Syndrome become valued members of welcoming communities.  Additionally, TMC has been providing opportunities for individuals with various disabilities to learn important job, social, and life skills, through their outreach program with The Arc Westchester, Hawthorne, NY.

The Mauro family sincerely appreciates your donations and support .  It’s not too late to make a donation to “Team Jen” by accessing the following link:  https://give.ndss.org/teamjen2022.   Details regarding the Fourth Annual Buddy Walk for “Team Jen” will be released in the spring!
