PELHAM HEALTHY YARDS MEET UP

Hellstrips, Sedges, and Living Mulch!

 Sunday, November 13, 2022

464 Esplanade, Pelham Manor

3:30-4:30pm

The hellstrip—also known as a parking strip or planting strip—is finally getting the attention it deserves. Hellstrip gardening adds curb appeal to your home, and sedges offer a grasslike ground cover that is beautiful, adaptive, and easy to maintain.  Sedges are a climate-friendly alternative to high maintenance lawns and mulch applications. Their deep roots absorb water, stabilize soil, and support more ecosystem function.

See for yourself the six types of sedges used to replace turf where it was not needed, and what “living mulch” looks like in practice.

Meet neighbors in an inspiring space, share information and trade tips with fellow plant lovers, and take part in the Healthy Yards community campaign to create resilient landscapes in private gardens and public spaces.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
