New day and time: Pelham Interfaith Thanksgiving Service to be celebrated Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Pelham Interfaith Council. The Pelham Examiner publishes press releases in the form received as a service to the community.

Our community’s Interfaith Thanksgiving Service is moving to a new day and time this year.  The greater Pelham community is invited to join together to give thanksgiving  for all its blessings on Monday, November 21st, at 7:30 pm.  The Pelham Jewish Center (451 Esplanade, Pelham Manor 10803) will host this year’s event.

Representatives and clergy from the various Pelham houses of worship will lead the service of prayer, music, and reflection on “For What Am I Thankful?”  None of the short reflections will surprise you, but some will stir up a thought or feeling and make you ponder what you are thankful for!

This annual service of Interfaith worship and sharing is sponsored by the Pelham Interfaith Council, which is composed of clergy and representatives from Our Lady of Perpetual Mercy/St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic parish, Christ Church (Episcopal), Community Church of the Pelhams (United Church of Christ), Huguenot Memorial Church (Presbyterian), the Pelham Jewish Center, and Greater Days Pentecostal Church (which meets at the Community Church).

The Interfaith Thanksgiving service has been a fixture in Pelham’s public life since the 1970’s.  It was moved from Sunday afternoon to a Monday evening this year because it is recognized that many people cannot attend on a Sunday late afternoon.

The Pelham Jewish Center is led by Rabbi Benjamin J. Resnick, who will act as greeter and host.  Refreshments will be served following the conclusion of this 45 minute service, which will have something in it to appeal to everyone.

You can also view the service live streamed, on the Pelham Jewish Center youtube page:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu8cIM76OIqXXW0YuI0kdxw

Remember, everyone (religious or not!) has something for which to give thanks.  Hence you are all welcome to join with your neighbors in giving thanks on Monday evening November 21st.
