PMHS alumni and University of Virginia seniors Kate Douglass and Jennifer Bell won their fourth consecutive ACC women’s swimming and diving championship on February 18.

Douglass took home three individual gold medals, breaking the American, NCAA and U.S. Open records in the 100-yard butterfly and the ACC record in the 100-yard freestyle. Douglass now holds the American records in the 200-yard breaststroke, 200-meter IM and 100-yard butterfly. She also took gold in four relay events, setting three more American records and an additional NCAA record.

Douglass was named the ACC Women’s Most Valuable Swimmer.

Bell won bronze in the 1M diving event and took fourth in 3M diving, accumulating 53 points for the No. 1 ranked Cavaliers. This was her first podium finish at the ACC Championships.

In high school, Douglass and Bell led PMHS to a Section 1 championship in 2016 and set numerous Section 1 records. They’ve now helped UVA win four ACC championships and two NCCA Divison 1 titles.

The two women will swim in their last collegiate meet in March at the NCAA Division 1 Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee.
