As night fell on Glover Field and with over 250 spectators on hand, some of Pelham’s finest baseball players were focused on hitting home runs during Pelham Little League’s annual Home Run Derby, which took place on June 10 for the first time since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

With over 65 participants in attendance and a festive atmosphere featuring a DJ and food offerings, a new group of home run champions were crowned in the following age groups:

  • 8U Boys: Raymond Downs
  • 9U Boys: Benny Soccodato
  • 10U Boys: Santino Puliafico
  • 11U Boys: Lincoln Hayes
  • 12U Boys: Max Jenkins
  • 14U Boys: Warren Lesser
  • 14U Girls: Isla Taylor

The 12U and 14U champions now move on to a regional home run derby event in Philadelphia on July 2, with the winner advancing to this year’s Major League Baseball All Star Weekend in Seattle to compete against the nation’s best sluggers. The event was free to all participants and sponsored by Pelham Little League.
