Michael DiBenedetto was introduced to the Village of Pelham Manor six months after his appointment as department of public works foreman during the village board meeting on Aug. 14.

“His appointment is indispensable to the village,” said Pelham Manor Mayor Jennifer Monachino Lapey. “Village Manager (Lindsey) Luft thought we should bring this person to meet him officially. He was approved by both Luft and Pierpont, which is a big deal. We are so pleased that he was promoted earlier this year to DPW foreman.”

DiBenedetto began working for the village in 2016. He grew up in Pelham and graduated from Pelham Memorial High School. He currently lives in New Rochelle with his family. He is a skilled equipment operator and is working alongside Luft.

Daniel Higgins was sworn in as Pelham Manor’s newest firefighter. Higgins was born in New Rochelle and raised in Yonkers. After graduating from Hastings on Hudson High School, he enlisted in the New York Army National Guard, the fourth generation of his family to serve his country. He was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq, where he was promoted to sergeant and completed his bachelor’s degree.

In September, village board meetings will take place on Tuesdays, with the next on Sept. 5 at 8:15.
